Yom Teruah to Yom Kippur!

Yom Teruah - the day of trumpet/shofar blowing, begins the Jewish Civil New Year - the "birthday" of the world. This day also begins the count of ten days, considered the Ten Days of Awe, which ends at Yom Kippur - the solemn Day of Atonement. Then four days later is celebrated the joyful time of Feast of Tabernacles, which started as a seven day observance.

These fall feast observances are prophetic of a time yet to come. The feasts in spring have literally been fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Yeshua HaMashiach. The summer feast of Shavuot has been and is now being fulfilled in the time we live.

Day 1   -   At the meal of Yom Teruah two candles are lit, wine and bread are served to sanctify and bless. Apple slices dipped in honey/sugar are served to look to a year filled with blessings from our Heavenly Father. A fish dish is traditional for the menu along with carrots. Our family also enjoys the Honey Cake as the world's birthday cake. Many resources are available for Yom Teruah menu ideas from which your family can choose to enjoy the feast.
